metal-organic compounds
The Sn atom in the anion of the title compound, (C4H12N)2[SnCl4(C2H3)2], exists in a distorted trans-C2SnCl4 octahedral geometry. Differences in Sn-Cl separations within the anion are related to hydrogen bonding between the Cl(2) atoms of the anion and the diethylammonium cations. The average Sn-Cl distance in this and related compounds is correlated with the Lewis acidity of the diorganotin moiety.
