Disodium Bis(malonato)cuprate(II) Dihydrate

In Na₂ Cu(C₃H₂O₄)₂ 2H₂O, the copper atom lies on an inversion centre and has two coplanar bidentate malonato groups (Cu-O 1.942 (3) and 1.950 (3) Å). These units are combined into a three-dimensional network by out-of-plane Cu-O contacts (2.597 (3) Å) to adjacent malonate groups and by hydrogen bonds between malonate groups and water molecules. The sodium ion is 6-coordinate, including two water molecules (Na...O 2.361 (4)-2.576 (3) Å).
