1-Phenyl-4-imidazolidinone (Z)-Oxime

The treatment of 4-nitroimidazoles with an excess of sodium borohydride in the presence of sodium methoxide yields the (Z)-oximes of 4-imidazolidinones. The title compound, 1-phenyl-4-imidazolidinone (Z)-oxime, C₉H₁₁N₃O, is a coplanar molecule despite the saturation of the hetero ring.
