metal-organic compounds
In crystals of [CdCl2(C7H7NO2)2], the Cd atom is octahedrally coordinated by four Cl atoms and two N atoms from two p-aminobenzoic acid ligands. Infinite zigzag chains of edge-shared octahedra run along the a axis. Pairs of p-aminobenzoic acid residues anchored onto the Cd chains frame thick organic–inorganic layers parallel to the (011) plane. An N—HCl hydrogen-bond network maintains the packing cohesion between the layers.
