An erroneous claim in the paper by Royappa et al. [Acta Cryst. (2013), E69, m126 ] is corrected and a reference added for a previously published report of a closely related structure.

In the paper by Royappa et al. (2013[Royappa, A. D., Golen, J. A., Rheingold, A. L. & Royappa, A. T. (2013). Acta Cryst. E69, m126.]), the authors claimed `To date, no examples of copper(I) oxalate compounds containing triphenylphosphine ligands coordinated through the phosphorus atoms to the metal centers have been structurally characterized'.

However, the authors were unaware of a previous report (Jakob et al., 2010[Jakob, A., Rüffer, T., Ecorchard, P., Walfort, B., Körbitz, K., Frühauf, S., Schulz, S. E., Gessner, T. & Lang, H. (2010). Z. Anorg. Allg. Chem. 636, 1931-1940.]) on the structure of (PPh3)2Cu(C2O4)Cu(PPh3)2 with a different number of dichloromethane solvent molecules. The authors sincerely regret this unintentional oversight.
