3-[1,2-Dicarba-closo-dodecacarboranyl(methyleneoxy)]benzonitrile

The title compound, C₁₀H₁₇B₁₀NO, contains a closo carbonane cage linked via a methyleneoxy tether to a substituted benzene ring. The carborane cage is essentially a regular dodecahedron with slight distortions owing to the presence of C-C and C-B bonds. The mean B-B bond distance is 1.77 (1) Å, the mean C-B bond distance is 1.71 (1) Å and the cage C-C distance is 1.648 (2) Å.
