The crystal structure of the title compound, [Cu(NCS)(C10H24N4)](SCN), has been determined by X-ray diffraction. A mirror plane passes through the metal atom and bisects the molecule with the isothiocyanato group lying on the plane. The CuII ion is five-coordinate in a distorted square-pyramidal arrangement, with four amine N atoms in equatorial positions and the isothiocyanate N atom in an axial position, and its coordination geometry is normal, with the equatorial Cu-N distances shorter than the axial one. The unbound SCN- counterion is statistically disordered.
