The 1:1 Molecular Complex of N,N'-Bis(4-methoxybenzylidene)ethylenediamine and Hydroquinone

The present X-ray diffraction study establishes the molecular structure of the title complex, C₁₈H₂₀N₂O₂·C₆H₆O₂. There are two half molecules in the asymmetric unit. The crystal structure is stabilized by an intermolecular O—H...N hydrogen bond and a C—H...N and two C—H...O intermolecular interactions. The O—H...N hydrogen bond favours the formation of the complex, thus forming the supramolecule with a linear array along the c axis.
