The structure of the title compound, tetrakis(2-amino-1,5-dihydro-1-methyl-4H-imidazol-4-one-N3)platinum(II) dithiocyanate, [Pt(C4H7N3O)4](SCN)2, consists of [Pt(creat)4]2+ (creat is 2-imino1-methyl-4-imidazolidinone) complex cations possessing approximate D2 symmetry, and thiocyanate anions. The Pt atom has a square-planar coordination of four creatinine ligands bonded through their endocyclic N atoms. The Pt-N bond distances range from 1.980 (6) to 2.034 (7) Å. The creatinine molecules are planar and participate in inter- and intramolecular hydrogen bonds. The ligands are almost perpendicular to the equatorial PtN4 plane.
