A New Analogue of Nifurtimox

1-{[(5-Nitro-2-furanyl)methylene]amino}-1,2,4-triazole, C₇H₅N₅O₃, is a new analogue of nifurtimox with activity against Tripanosoma cruzi. In the crystal structure, the molecule lies on a mirror plane and has an E–sZ conformation along the N=C—C moeity. The molecules are linked through C—H...O and C—H...N interactions.
