The structure of C11H26NH+.Cl-.H2O is the first of a new class of monoalkylammonium halide compounds containing a water molecule. The latter is hydrogen bonded both to the N and Cl atoms. The structure may be a useful model for the interface between biological membranes and aqueous solutions.
