V₂MnTeO₇

The title compound, divanadium manganese tellurite, V₂MnTeO₇, was obtained by hydrothermal methods. The structure of this compound is made up of slabs, running parallel to the xy plane, that contain TeO_3 + 1 units and MnO₆ octahedra, along with distorted VO₅ square pyramids and VO₆ octahedra. Examination of the metal environments and bond-valence-sum calculations show that this compound is an Mn^II/V^IV/Te^IV compound.
