A Silver(I) Complex of 4,4'-Dicyanodiphenylacetylene with a Difluorophosphate (PO₂F₂⁻) Counterion

Crystallization of 1,2-ethynediylbis(4-benzonitrile) with silver(I) hexafluorophosphate results in hydrolysis of the counterion to the difluorophosphate species. The resulting complex, poly[disilver(I)-bis(μ₃-difluorophosphato-O:O:O' )-μ-[1,2-ethynediylbis(4-benzonitrile)-N:N]], [Ag₂F₂O₂P)₂(C₁₆H₈N₂)]_∞, consists of infinite chains of ligands coordinated to silver(I) which are linked through counterion O atoms to form undulating sheets.
