4,4'-[1,6-Hexanediylbis(oxy)]bisbenzaldehyde

The title compound, C₂₀H₂₂O₄, shows an extended conformation for its central hexanediyl chain. The molecule is quite planar and centrosymmetric in the crystal. The structure consists of equivalent molecules stacked in layers, these layers being linked via electrostatic interactions between O1 of one molecule and C1 of another in the next layer.
