A mechanism has been constructed which is capable of cooling the rotating sample of a Guinier diffractometer down to 12.5 K with the use of a closed-cycle refrigerator. The apparatus measures intensities accurately with low background and provides high resolution. Recordings can be made in symmetrical or asymmetrical back-reflection or transmission geometry. An optical slit system allows easy adjustment to the focal circle.
