X-ray scattering effects of ionic size in solid solutions KCl-KBr

The diffuse X-ray scattering from single crystals of 36:64 and 50:50 KCl-KBr solid solutions has been studied. The analysis of the results, which follows the method described by Borie, is based on the approximation of a solid solution Cl^--Br^-. The observed values of the distortion constant for the chloride ion are 2-3 times greater than those calculated on the basis of the conventional values of ionic radii.
