Recent updates to CheckMyMetal have significantly enhanced its capability to efficiently handle large datasets, including those generated from cryo-EM structural analyses.

The metal-site validation tool CheckMyMetal is described, with examples to follow.

From an analysis of published results, it is concluded that the room-temperature structure of Ba₂NaNb₅O₁₅ is that proposed in 1989 in the space group Bbm2 (Ama2 in standard setting). The structures and phase transitions at higher temperatures are also considered.

Through the analysis of more than 115 000 metal-binding sites in metalloproteins, experimentalists are offered useful reference data that improve the understanding of metal-binding interactions and protein coordination. Carboxylate coordination, which is common for a variety of metals, is especially highlighted.

The first powder neutron diffraction study of the hexagonal tungsten bronzes RbNbW₂O₉ and KNbW₂O₉ is presented. The existence of octahedral tilting that has not been previously observed using X-ray diffraction is also reported.

The structure of copper perchlorophthalo­cyanine (CuC₃₂N₈Cl₁₆, Pigment Green 7) was solved from three-dimensional electron diffraction data (3D ED) and placed into the series of known copper phthalo­cyanine crystal structures.

Small-angle X-ray scattering intensity is simulated for multiscale Boolean models of spheroids.

The methods used to estimate chord-length distributions from small-angle scattering data assume a structure made up of spatially uncorrelated and convex regions. Significant errors follow from applying these methods outside of their range of validity.

An electron density model for small-angle X-ray scattering from a novel thickness-modulated phase of lipid membranes is presented, and analytical expressions are derived for the intensities of the diffraction peaks. Structural parameters of the membranes in this phase have been determined from a least-squares fit of the calculated intensities to the observed ones.

The intrinsic, hyperbolic crystallography of the two-periodic, genus-two HCB and SQL surfaces is presented. All discrete groups containing the translations of the Euclidean embeddings of these surfaces are derived and examples of applications are given.
