The structure of 4-(naphthalen-2-yl)-2-oxo-6-phenyl-1,2-dihydropyridine-3-carbonitrile, prepared by a three-component one-pot reaction, is based on dimers connected by N—H...O hydrogen bonds, which also interact through π–π contacts.

The structure of the ζ polymorph of glycine has been solved by a combination of crystal structure prediction and neutron powder diffraction, where the elusive phase was trapped at low temperature. At room temperature ζ-glycine is a short-lived intermediate in the pressure-driven transition between the [epsilon] and γ polymorphs; by contrast at low temperature it undergoes the first observed transformation into the metastable β polymorph.

It is demonstrated that X-ray absorption spectroscopy, both XANES and EXAFS, of solutions with millimolar concentrations of metal is possible using the femtosecond X-ray pulses from XFELs with two different sample delivery methods, a Rayleigh jet and a drop-on-demand setup.

The synthesis and structure of 2-(2-bromo-5-fluorophenyl)-8-ethoxy-3-nitro-2H-thiochromene (A) and 2-(2-bromo-5-fluorophenyl)-7-methoxy-3-nitro-2H-thiochromene (B) are described. In each crystal, the molecules are linked by hydrogen bonds and π–π stacking interactions.
