Crystals with the La18W10O57-type structure were obtained by the self-flux method from high-temperature solutions in the Li2O–La2O3–WO3 system. The co-existence of two phases was revealed in one crystal (6H and 5H polytypes), with the space groups P\overline{6}2c and P321, which were different with respect to the character of the superstructure ordering.

Single crystals of Tl4.86Fe0.82Hf1.18(MoO4)6 were obtained by the self-flux method from high-temperature solutions in the Tl2MoO4–Fe2(MoO4)3–Hf(MoO4)2 system. The crystal structure consists of nonpolar and polar domains with different local symmetries and can be described as a whole by the nonstandard space group R1 with local symmetry R\overline 3c for some atoms.

Undoped and Mg-doped Pr2MoO6 oxymolybdate polycrystals and single crystals have been prepared by solid-state reactions and flux growth. The incorporation of Mg atoms into the structure of Pr2MoO6 results in the partial substitution of Mg atoms for Mo atoms and disordering of the praseodymium and oxygen lattices.
