Expression, crystallization and preliminary X-ray diffraction studies on the complete choline-binding domain of the major pneumococcal autolysin

In order to confirm the hypothesis that the previously reported C-terminal fragment of the major pneumococcal autolysin was not the complete choline-binding domain of this enzyme, the full-length C-terminal domain has been crystallized. Diffraction data to 3.2 Å resolution allowed the determination of the space group (P2₁) and the unit-cell parameters (a = 51.9, b = 30.3, c = 113.6 Å, β = 96.4°).
