In the title compound, C₁₁H₈N₂O₂S, the oxadiazinone ring is nearly planar [maximum deviation = 0.016 (4) Å], and is approximately coplanar with the benzo­thio­phene ring system [dihedral angle = 3.1 (5)°]. In the crystal, mol­ecules are linked by N—H...O hydrogen bonds, forming chains running along the b-axis direction.
