The feasibility of propagation-based X-ray phase-contrast imaging of small animal lungs has been investigated at the Imaging and Medical beamline (IMBL) of the Australian Synchrotron, including computed tomography and X-ray velocimetry. Excellent contrast of the lung phantoms indicates that live animal lung imaging can readily be achieved at the IMBL.
