Rhombohedral boron subnitride, B₁₃N₂, by X-ray powder diffraction

A new compound, B₁₃N₂, has been synthesized under high pressure. It crystallizes in the Rm space group and features distorted B₁₂ icosa­hedra linked by N-B-N chains, giving rise to a three-dimensional framework.
