The title compound, C23H30O8, was prepared from macrocalyxin A and its structure was established from the ESI-MS, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and X-ray crystallographic data. Two unique mol­ecules are present in the asymmetric unit.

The title compound, C26H32O10, was prepared from macrocalyxin A and is built up from five fused rings, three six-membered and two five-membered. The relative absolute configuration was deduced from the known configuration of the starting material.
