The title compound, Li3.5Eu1.5(MoO4)4, was prepared by solid-state reactions. The fundamental building units of the structure are LiO4 polyhedra (site symmetry 
), distorted LiO6 polyhedra and MoO4 tetrahedra, which are further interconnected via corner-sharing O atoms. One site is occupied by both Li and Eu atoms in a substituent disordered manner (0.25:0.75), and the Li/Eu atoms are coordinated by eight O atoms in a distorted square-antiprismatic manner.
