Diaqua-κ²O-tris­(1,10-phenanthroline)-1κ²N,N′;2κ⁴N,N′-μ-5-sulfonatoisophthalato-1:2κ⁴O¹,O^1′:O³,O^3′-dicopper(II) perchlorate trihydrate

In the title compound, [Cu₂(C₈H₃O₇S)(C₁₂H₈N₂)₃(H₂O)₂]ClO₄·3H₂O, the 5-sulfonatoisophthalate trianion functions as a bridge between two Cu atoms to form an asymmetric dinuclear cation. One Cu atom is surrounded by four O atoms, two from a 5-sulfonatoisophthalate trianion and two from water ligands, and by two N atoms from a 1,10-phenanthroline ligand. The second Cu atom is bound to two O atoms from a 5-sulfonatoisophthalate trianion and four N atoms from two 1,10-phenanthroline ligands. Both copper centers have a distorted octa­hedral geometry.
