The title compound, C₁₁H₁₀N₄OS₂, has a twofold axis passing through the carbonyl group. The mol­ecules stack along the b axis via π–π interactions.

In the title compound, [Sn(CH₃)₂(C₈H₄O₄)], the coordination geometry around the Sn^IV centre can be described as highly distorted octa­hedral. The chelating benzene-1,4-dicarboxyl­ate ligands connect the centres to form an infinite one-dimensional polymeric chain structure.
