A novel mode of ferric ion coordination by the periplasmic ferric ion-binding subunit FbpA of an ABC-type iron transporter from Thermus thermophilus HB8

Crystal structures of FbpA from T. thermophilus (TtFbpA) in its apo and ferric ion-bound forms have been solved. TtFbpA shows the novel formation of a six-coordinated complex of ferric ion coordinated by three tyrosine residues, two monodentate bicarbonates and a water molecule.

 L-allo-Threonine aldolase with an H128Y/S292R mutation from Aeromonas jandaei DK-39 reveals the structural basis of changes in substrate stereoselectivity

The crystal structures of A. jandaei L-allo-threonine aldolase and a mutant were refined to 2.59 and 2.50 Å resolution, respectively. The structural basis of the substrate specificity and stereoselectivity has been elucidated.
