In the title compound, [HgBr₂(C₁₅H₁₇N₅)], the Hg^II ion is tetra­hedrally coordinated by two N atoms of the N-[1-(1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)ethyl­idene-κN]-3-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)propan-1-amine ligand, and two bromide anions. Inter­molecular benzimidazole–imidazole N—H...N hydrogen bonds link the mol­ecules into helical chains along the b-axis direction and C—H...Br hydrogen bonds link these chains into layers parallel to the bc plane.

2-(4H-1,2,4-Triazol-4-yl)pyrimidine

The title compound, C₆H₅N₅, is almost planar, the triazole and pyrimidine rings forming a dihedral angle of 2.9 (13)°.
