In the title compound, [NiCl₂(C₇H₉N)₄], where C₇H₉N is 3,5-lutidine, the Ni^II atom is coordinated by two Cl atoms and four N atoms from 3,5-lutidine groups. The geometry around the Ni^II atom, which is located at a special position of symmetry 422, is octahedral. Mol­ecules of the title compound are connected by C—H...Cl inter­molecular hydrogen bonds and C—H...π inter­actions to form a three-dimensional structure.
