In the crystal structure of the title compound, C₁₃H₁₁NO₅S, the dihedral angle between the mean planes of the 4-tolyl and 2-nitro­phenyl rings is 42.2 (2)°. There are weak C—H...O hydrogen bonds, which generate rings of graph-set motifs S(5), (4), (5), (6), (6), (7) and (10). The supramol­ecular aggregation is completed by the presence of intermolecular van der Waals short contacts, and C—H...π and π–π interactions.
