In the title compound, C16H14OS, the dihedral angle between the benzothiophene ring system and the benzene ring is 72.41 (12)°. A weak intermolecular C—Hπ interaction from the benzene ring to the benzothiophene ring system is observed in the crystal structure.

In the title compound, C32H33NO6S, the indole ring system makes dihedral angles of 62.78 (10) and 80.53 (8)°, respectively, with the phenyl and benzene rings. In the crystal, the molecules are linked through intermolecular C—HO hydrogen bonds, forming a chain along the a axis. Between the chains, a weak aromatic π–π stacking interaction [centroid–centroid distance = 3.831 (2) Å] is observed.
