Dichlorido(ethanol-κO)[2-(1,3-thia­zol-4-yl-κN)-1H-benzimidazole-κN³]copper(II)

In the title complex, [CuCl₂(C₁₀H₇N₃S)(C₂H₅OH)], the Cu^II ion is five-coordinated in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry by two N atoms from a 2-(1,3-thia­zol-4-yl)-1H-benzimidazole ligand, one O atom from an ethanol mol­ecule and two Cl atoms. In the crystal, O—H...Cl and N—H...Cl hydrogen bonds link the complex mol­ecules into a layer parallel to (100). π–π inter­actions between the thia­zole rings are observed [centroid–centroid distance = 3.749 (3) Å].

In the title complex, [Cd₂(C₁₇H₁₄O₄S)₂(C₁₀H₈N₂)₂], which was hydro­thermally synthesized, the Cd^II cation is hexa­coordinated in a distorted octa­hedral geometry by two N atoms from a 2,2′-bipyridine ligand and by four O atoms from two different 2-[3-carboxyl­atometh­yl-4-(phenyl­sulfan­yl)phen­yl]propano­ate ligands, forming a cyclic dimetallic complex.
