In the title compound, C₈H₉NO₅S, the dihedral angle between the benzene ring and the nitro group is 5.86 (15)° and the C—C—O—S group adopts an anti conformation [torsion angle = −168.44 (15)°]. In the crystal, mol­ecules are linked by C—H...O hydrogen bonds, generating a three-dimensional network.
