The title compound, C₉H₈N₂OS, crystallizes with two mol­ecules (A and B) in the asymmetric unit. The dihedral angles between the mean planes of the 1,3-benzo­thia­zol-2-yl ring system and the acetamide group are 2.7 (4) (mol­ecule A) and 7.2 (2) Å (mol­ecule B). In the crystal, pairs of N—H...N hydrogen bonds link the A and B mol­ecules into dimers, generating R₂²(8) loops. The dimers stack along [100].
