Tetra-μ-6-methyl­pyridin-2-olato-ditungsten toluene sesquisolvate

The red title compound, [W₂(C₆H₆NO)₄]·1.5C₇H₈, contains isolated W₂(hmp)₄ molecules (hmp is 6-methyl­pyridin-2-olate) in which the W—W separation of 2.1617 (5) Å is consistent with the expected tungsten–tungsten quadruple bond. The complex molecule cocrystallizes with 1.5 mol­ecules of toluene. One toluene mol­ecule is disordered about a crystallographic inversion center, and the other, in a general position, is also disordered.
