In the title complex, [Ru(C25H46P2)2Cl2] or RuCl2(dcpm)2 [dcpm is 1,2-bis(dicyclohexylphosphino)methane, C25H46P2], the Ru atom (site symmetry \overline1) is in a octahedral coordination environment with two chelating dcpm ligands and two trans chloro ligands.

The new mononuclear copper(II) complex, [CuCl(C10H8N2)2]BF4·CH2Cl2, was prepared by a new procedure using photo-irradiation and a nitrogen atmosphere. X-ray analysis reveals a slightly distorted trigonal–bipyramidal coordination geometry of copper(II); the axial ligands and the CuII atom deviate slightly from linearity [N—Cu—N = 175.3 (3)°].
