In the title compound, (C20H26P)2[Pd2Cl6], the PdII atom within the hexachloridodipalladate(II) dianion has a square-planar geometry. It resides on a centre of inversion with the asymmetric unit containing half of the dianion and one phosphonium cation. Only weak C—Hπ interactions are present in the crystal structure.

The structure of the title compound, [Pd(C2H3O2)(C20H26P)], shows a distorted square-planar geometry for the PdII atom, with significant deviations being evident owing to the asymmetric coordination mode of the acetate ligand. A weak intramolecular C—HO interaction is noted. The crystal studied was a racemic twin.
