In the title compound, C19H20N4, the dihedral angles formed by the planes of the triazine ring and the two phenyl substituents are 51.54 (1) and 49.27 (1)°. The phenyl rings form a dihedral angle of 80.81 (1)°. All bond lengths and angles are normal. The structure is stabilized by van der Waals interactions.

In the solid state, the structure of the title compound, C10H8O2, is stabilized by both van der Waals interactions and O—H...O intermolecular hydrogen bonds with O...O distances of 2.714 (3) and 2.831 (4) Å.

Single crystals of erbium dicobalt disilicide were synthesized from the corresponding elements by arc melting. The ternary intermetallic compound crystallizes in the body-centred tetragonal space group I4/mmm and adopts the CeGa2Al2 structure type, with all atoms in special positions.

Single crystals of ErNiSi3 were synthesized from the corresponding elements by arc melting. The ternary inter­metallic compound crystallizes in the ortho­rhom­bic space group Cmmm and adopts the SmNiGe3 structure type, with all atoms in special positions of site symmetry m2m.

Single crystals of Er3NiAl3Ge2 were synthesized from the corresponding elements by arc-melting. The new quaternary inter­metallic compound crystallizes in the primitive hexa­gonal space group P\overline{6}2m and adopts the Y3NiAl3Ge2 structure type [Zhao & Parthé (1990). Acta Cryst. C46, 2273-2276], with all atoms in special positions: Er and Al with site symmetry m2m, Ni with site symmetry \overline{6}2m, and Ge with \overline{6}.. site symmetry.
