The molecule of the title compound, C30H34N2O2P2 or Ph2P(O)N(Et)CH2CH2(Et)N(O)PPh2, has crystallographically imposed centrosymmetry. The P-N bond length of 1.656 (2) Å is less than the accepted value for a single P-N bond. The P-O bonds [1.4818 (18) Å] are also short because of double-bond character.

The title complex, [Pt(C24H21NP2)(C27H26P2)]Cl2·CH2Cl2 or [Pt(dppa)(dppp)]Cl2·CH2Cl2, where dppa is bis(diphenylphosphino)amine and dppp is 1,3-bis(diphenylphosphino)propane, has two different chelate rings. The PtII atom has a distorted square-planar geometry. The six-membered chelate ring of dppp has a chair conformation. There is a hydrogen bond between the dppa N—H group and a Cl counter-ion.

The title complex, [Pt(C25H22P2)(C25H22P2S2)](ClO4)2·C3H6O or [Pt(dppm)(dppmS2)](ClO4)2·C3H6O, where dppmS2 is bis(diphenylthiophosphinyl)methane and dppm is bis(diphenylphosphino)methane, is the first example of a platinum(II) complex containing both dppm and dppmS2 ligands. In the cation, the dppm ligand forms a non-planar four-membered chelate ring, while the dppmS2 ligand forms a six-membered chelate ring with twist–boat conformation.
