(NH4)2Zn(H2P2O7)2·2H2O is isostructural with its manganese homologue. Isolated almost-regular ZnO6 octahedra form a layered structure. The IR and Raman spectra show bands characteristic of H2P2O7 groups.

The title compound, Rb3CoCl4NO3, is isostructural with K3ZnCl4NO3. It is built up from Rb+ cations, NO3- anions and [CoCl4]2- complex ions which form a layer-like arrangement: one layer contains only rubidium cations while the other contains a mixture of rubidium, nitrate and tetrachlorocobaltate ions. Both rubidium cations are ninefold coordinated by three O atoms and six Cl ions. One Rb atom, the Co atom, two Cl atoms, the N atom and one O atom lie on a crystallographic mirror plane.

The structure of the title compound, ammonium hexaaquacobalt(II) orthophosphate, known from powder data, has been refined based on single-crystal data. The compound crystallizes in the struvite [NH4Mg(H2O)6PO4] structure type and is isotypic with the homologous nickel phase. The framework is built of NH4+, [Co(H2O)6]2+ and PO43− ions stacked in two kinds of ribbons parallel to (010). CoII atoms are well separated in the framework, with the shortest Co...Co distance being over 6 Å.

The framework of the title compound is made up of discrete Mg(H2O)6 octahedra, and HPO3 and NH4 tetrahedra, which are organized in planes parallel to (010). Strong hydrogen bonding between the building units stabilizes the structure. The hydrogenphosphate(III) tetrahedra, the ammonium tetrahedron and one of the two Mg atoms lie on positions with m symmetry, whereas the second Mg atom is located on a position with 2/m symmetry.

(NH4)2[Co(H2O)6]3(HPO3)4 is a member of the isotypic (NH4)2[T(H2O)6]3(HPO3)4 family, where T = Co, Ni or Mg. The structure of (NH4)2[Co(H2O)6]3(HPO3)4 is composed of the units [Co(H2O)6]2+, (HPO3)2- and NH4+, which interact via an intricate network of hydrogen bonds. One of the Co atoms is located at a site of 2/m symmetry, whereas the other central atoms, viz. the second Co, the two P and ammonium N atom, are located at sites of m symmetry.

The title compound, KMg(HP2O7)·2H2O, is isotypic with other members of the series KM(HP2O7)·2H2O, where M = Mn, Co and Zn. The structure consists of a three-dimensional framework of [MgHP2O7]- layers parallel to (100) linked by K+ cations and hydrogen-bonding interactions. The metal ions and water O atoms lie on mirror planes, as does the bridging O atom of the eclipsed (HP2O7)3- anion. The acid H atom of the diphosphate anion is split into two half-occupied positions around a center of inversion.
