`0'- and `8'-shaped complexes generated from a nano-sized oxa­diazole-containing organic ligand with CdI₂ and CuI

The new nano-sized rigid double-armed oxa­diazole-bridged ligand 2,5-bis­{2-methyl-5-[2-(pyridin-3-yl)ethen­yl]phen­yl}-1,3,4-oxa­diazole has been used to create two novel metallocyclic complexes with one adopting a 20-membered `0'-shaped metallocyclic structure and the second adopting a discrete `8'-shaped metallocyclic structure.

Supra­molecular structures in three thio­uracil derivatives: 5,6-tri­methyl­ene-2-sulfan­yl­idene-1,2-di­hydro­pyrimidin-4(3H)-one, 2-(4-fluorobenzyl­sulfan­yl)-5,6-tri­methyl­ene­pyrimidin-4(3H)-one and methyl 2-{[2-(4-fluoro­benzyl­sulfan­yl)-5,6-tri­methyl­ene­pyrimidin-4-yl]­oxy}acetate

Three 5,6-tri­methyl­ene­pyrimidin-4-one derivatives display a combination of N-H...O, N-H...S, C-H...O and C-H...N hydrogen bonds. The study of the mol­ecular and supra­molecular structures of thio­uracil derivatives is significant in the development of lipoprotein-associated phospho­lipase A₂ inhibitors.

Two different one-dimensional supra­molecular chains with Co^II cations have been synthesized based on the semi-rigid ligand 2-[1-(pyridin-4-ylmethyl)-1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)quinoline (L), obtained by condensation of 2-(1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)quinoline and 4-(chloro­methyl)pyridine hydro­chloride, and the precursors Co(NO₃)₂ and CoCl₂.
