The title compound, C12H24N2O3·0.75H2O, crystallizes in the hexagonal space group P62 with four peptide mol­ecules in the asymmetric unit (Z = 24). The structure is very similar to the structure of L-Leu-L-Val·0.75H2O [Görbitz & Gundersen (1996). Acta Chem. Scand. 50, 537-543] and is characterized by a honeycomb-shaped hydrogen-bond pattern with large hydro­phobic columns running parallel to the c axis.

Special details top

Refinement. Data were collected by measuring three sets of exposures with the detector set at 2θ = 28°, crystal-to-detector distance 5.00 cm. Heavy atoms were refined anisotropically, except disordered side chain C atoms with occupancy < 0.8 which were refined isotropically. In addition to the three water molecules with full occupancy, a fourth water site was also identified (not shown in illustrations). The occupancy was very low, 0.046 (6), for a fixed isotropic U-value of 0.20
