trans-Dichlorobis[(R,R)-1,2-phenylenebis(methylphenylphosphine-P)]ruthenium(II)

The title complex, [RuCl₂(C₂₀H₂₀P₂)₂], is a convenient precursor for the synthesis of interesting symmetrical or unsymmetrical optically active ruthenium [sigma]-acetylide complexes. The complex has trans geometry about the octahedral Ru atom, with Ru-P distances in the range 2.304 (1)-2.354 (1) Å and Ru-Cl distances of 2.426 (1) and 2.432 (1) Å.
