The title compound, methyl 5-ethyl-2-meth­oxy-6-aza­penta­cyclo­[9.5.1.01,5.02,8.014,17]hepta­dec-11 (17)-ene-15-carboxyl­ate, C21H31NO3, obtained from the fruits of Daphniphyllum macropodum, is a newly identified alkaloid with a complex polycyclic skeleton. It crystallizes with two unique mol­ecules in the asymmetric unit that differ in the orientation of the hydroxyl group. The mol­ecules are linked into chains along the a axis by inter­molecular O—H...N hydrogen bonds.

Special details top

Geometry. All e.s.d.'s (except the e.s.d. in the dihedral angle between two l.s. planes) are estimated using the full covariance matrix.
