Dimethanolbis(N-nitroso-N-phenylhydroxylaminato-O,O')cobalt(II)

The title compound, [Co(C₆H₅N₂O₂)₂(CH₄O)₂], is isomorphous with the analogous Ni complex [Okabe & Tamaki (1995). Acta Cryst. C51, 2004-2005]. The Co atom lies on an inversion center and the coordination environment is slightly distorted octahedral. The metal-O bonds are somewhat longer than in the Ni complex. The crystal is built up by infinite one-dimensional chains of hydrogen bonded molecules.
