Luminescent Cu^I Clusters. Bis({tris[2-(2-methoxyethoxy)ethyl]amine}potassium) Hexaiodotetracuprate(I)

In the title compound [((CH₃OCH₂CH₂OCH₂CH₂)₃N)K]₂.[Cu₄I₆], the [Cu₄I₆]^2- ion has 2-fold rotation symmetry and the tetrahedron of copper atoms is edge-bridged by the iodides. Two orientations (major and minor) of the anion exist in the crystal resulting in disorder in the copper atom positions. Principal dimensions in the major anion component include Cu-Cu 2.716 (2) - 2.8798 (13) Å. In the cation the 7-coordinate potassium has a geometry midway between capped octahedral and end-capped trigonal prismatic with K-O 2.691 (4) - 2.838 (5), K-N 2.854 (5) Å.
