Cedranediol, (1R,2R,5S,7R,8R,9S)-2,6,6,8-tetramethyltricyclo[5.3.1^1,7.0^1,5]undecane-8,9-diol, has been synthesized and characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis. It is a new chiral auxiliary for asymmetric homologation.
