A Highly Strained Tertiary Acetate: 2,2'-Spirobiadamant-1-yl Acetate

The four C-C bonds to the spiro-C atom in the title compound, 2,2'-spirobitricyclo[3.3.1.1^3,7]dec1-yl acetate, C₂₁H₃₀O₂, are all unusually long and the corresponding bond angles are either substantially smaller (intracyclic) or larger (extracyclic) than usual.
