Structure of Gallobicchulite. A Combined EXAFS/Neutron Powder Diffraction Refinement

A new model for the structure of gallobicchulite, Ca₈(Ga₂SiO₆)₄(OH)₈, has been derived from a combined refinement of EXAFS and neutron powder diffraction data. The structure is based on a pseudo-cubic ordered unit cell, related to that of tugtupite, with long-range disorder owing to domains in three orientations parallel to the cubic faces.
